Where Michigan fans get it in!

So much for a gauntlet. Michigan beats up a ranked opponent for the 3rd straight week, with two of them being ranked in the top-15. Blowing out this Penn State team was a possibility but again, 42-7 was not something I expected.

I expected something like an MSU game type of blowout. At halftime there was no discomfort from anyone in the crowd at The Big House despite only being up 14-0. The defense had total control of that game and it felt that way.

Putting 42 on Penn State after what they did last year was perfect payback. Add in the mock-celebrations of McSorley’s baseball swing being done by Chase Winovich, Khaleke Hudson and Shea Patterson after touchdowns and sacks and this game fit the Revenge Tour theme.

This is a type of swagger we haven’t seen in years. Maybe ever as far as the trash talk goes. I’m sure honorary Chris Webber was proud.

It was another day of statistical feats and records being tied/threatened-

Don Brown’s defense holding opponents to under 300 yards of total offense is obviously nothing new. But this is the 3rd straight ranked opponent that the defense has just given no room to breathe.

This is what we all expected when Coach Harbaugh was hired.

After 3 straight big time matchups with many eyes on the game nationwide, the hype of the game nationally won’t be there the next couple weeks. The Team must play like they have in this run of big games to continue the momentum, though. Championship teams don’t just win the big games with the national spotlight. They take care of business in games they’re “supposed” to win and take every opponent seriously.

Regardless of odds, records and past meetings: Michigan has to follow up this trio of big wins over ranked opponents with big wins over unranked opponents. And it starts on Saturday.
