DOMINANT. The performance we expected from this defense.
When the game got tied up 7-7 some old worries crept in, but once Shea Patterson hit Donovan Peoples-Jones for the touchdown that was ballgame. The offense did their job but this game goes out to the defense. They allowed MSU no room to breathe whatsoever.
Saturday’s win was a milestone win in many ways. This game was the 950th win in Michigan Football history-
Michigan’s 900th win: 10/20/2012 over MSU
Michigan’s 950th win: 10/20/2018 over MSU

Well what do ya know? Oddly similar, but the 2018 Michigan team doesn’t resemble the 2012 outfit in any fashion. Michigan needed this win as a program and needed it in this fashion.
There was no doubt in this game. MSU did not have a chance. This wasn’t 2016 where the Wolverines were expected to dominate and did but allowed MSU some scores for them to strangely brag about not getting blown out. Now the talking heads in the media have even less things to pick at as the weeks go on and this Michigan Football team continues to win over ranked opponents.
I don’t know if you knew this, but this was Michigan’s first win over a ranked team on the road since the 2006 Notre Dame game. I just figured I’d mention that since that is a very obscure statistic that no one has mentioned once since that 2006 game.
94 yards of total offense by MSU is the fewest they’ve been held to in this series since the 1947 game, where eventual National Champion and Crisler-led Michigan demolished the Spartans 55-0 and then flooded their locker room with toilet water as the Michigan Marching Band played “Old McDonald Had a Farm”.
In fact, 94 total yards is a really historic number-
94 total yards by #24 MSU was the fewest amount of yards Michigan has allowed a ranked opponent to have…………since at least 1984.
The MGoBlue database only tracks opponent’s stats back to 1984. Historical beatdown yesterday.

As for the antics during pregame, it’s typical. Typical MSU. Typical MSU and their faux outrage by their beat writers when Mark Dantonio was in fact 5 yards behind them and laughing as Coach Harbaugh pointed out in his postgame presser. Take a look at this tweet by former Michigan linebacker John Duerr-
Harbaugh: “it was bush leagie. And apparently Coach Dantonio was 5 yards behind it all, smilin”
Dantonio: “BS” pic.twitter.com/5SidCeclM2

The Wolverines aren’t taking it anymore.
MSU wants to hit after the whistle? So will Michigan. MSU wants to parade the Paul Bunyan Trophy around and stick it to Michigan’s student section? Michigan will do the same in return.
Little brother got beat for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons and has been sent back to the basement.
