Michigan DC, Don Brown Interviews for Temple HC Position
Based on information first reported by Marc Narducci, from The Inquirer, a Philly-based publication, it appears current Michigan Defensive Coordinator, Don Brown, has at a minimum toured the Temple Football facilities. He, along with Miami DC, Manny Diaz, and Mike Elko – current DC at Texas A&M, took their tours on Tuesday. It was also reported that Brown interviewed around this time.
Elko has since withdrawn his name from consideration, leaving Diaz, Don Brown, and a couple of previously interviewed candidates, Temple interim head coach Ed Foley and former Temple assistant and Baylor assistant head coach Francis Brown, as the most likely options.
Michigan’s defense has been in the top 3 nationally in each of his three seasons in Ann Arbor, including having the number one defense this past year as well as in his first year in the position.
Losing Don Brown would be a major blow to the program, although HC Jim Harbaugh has shown a strong propensity to go and bolster his staff. It’s hard to improve when you already had the number one defense but there’s always room to do so. Michigan fans should have the utmost confidence that Harbaugh will make every effort to do so, if his main man on the defensive side of the ball decides to bail.
More to come as developments are made.
